Conversing the other day with an interesting little
girl, between the ages of six or seven, I took the occasion to
impress upon her mind the debt of gratitude due from her to her
heavenly Father for bestowing upon her so good and a kind daddy,
whom everyone loved. I was perfectly thunderstruck by her answer.
Looking me full in the face with her soft tender blue eyes, she
replied, "He never speaks kind to me." Perhaps this
Christian father, harassed with the cares of business, was unconscious
that he had roughly checked the fond attentions of his child;--
but could cares, or interruptions of his child, excuse such unkindness,
or total want of tokens of endearment?
Will fathers examine their habits on this point?
Dear Fathers,
This little article was written over 164 years ago, yet sadly
the theme of the story still remains the same even today. God
has entrusted you with the care of precious little souls. What
a wonderful blessing that the God of all creation found you
worthy to be the father to these little treasures. Won't you
spend time with them today? Take time and encourage them...each
day passes..one less...till they have grown and gone. Enjoy
this time, make it special and you will reap a harvest of love,
for a lifetime. Count your self very, very blessed!!
