Greetings!
On
a Fall afternoon my mother could be seen kneeling by a living
room chair earnestly praying that the Lord would provide godly,
Christian friends for her 14 year old daughter. Families of
like-minded faith were far and few between. Loneliness inevitably
set in. We received a Christian, woman's magazine in the mail,
and after prayer and family discussion my Mother and I sent
in a pen-pal ad. Perhaps the Lord could provide friends for
us across the miles?
I
was excited with the prospect of corresponding with other like-minded
young ladies. It wasn't long before letters began trickling
in. Months went by, and I was still receiving replies to my
pen-pal ad. At the last count I received letters from approximately
70 young ladies, from all over the United States. To my surprise,
I continued to receive replies a year after my pen-pal ad was
in the magazine!
The
Lord heard my Mother's prayer, and answered in a mighty way!
With the overwhelming response, I couldn't correspond individually
with each girl. However, I still wanted to keep in contact with
them, as best I could. So, after prayer, my family decided to
begin a free newsletter for young ladies. The young girls, who
responded to the pen-pal ad, expressed similar loneliness, and
they were happy to find encouragement through our newsletter
entitled, Genteel Girlhood. As the Lord blessed, Genteel
Girlhood continued to grow from a small newsletter, to a
website, a 40 page, quarterly magazine, e-zine, and an online
message board called Reminisce. Through Genteel Girlhood
magazine many mothers, fathers, and brothers began to write,
asking if there was anything similar for them. Thus, Titus 2
Ministry was born from the requests of Christian families.
In
the summer of 2002 we ceased printing Genteel Girlhood,
as a magazine sent via the US Postal Service. However, Titus
2 Ministry publishes a monthy email journal to encourage the
entire family. For more information on subscribing, please click

Since
1998 we have been in contact with literally hundreds of families,
from around the world. The Lord has taught my family and I so
many lessons through this experience. I have learned that even
the most insignificant requests touch the heart of our loving,
Heavenly Father. I have seen, through experience, God's mighty
hand move on our behalf. I've grown so much closer to Jesus
Christ, my Lord and Savior. He's my best friend and confidant.
Through each stage of this ministry we have prayed to the Lord
for His guidance. He has been faithful to lead us along this
narrow way. We are by no means a perfect family, but we do know
who is perfect, and that is Christ Jesus. We love serving the
Lord through this ministry and our hearts desire is that those
who come across our website will be encouraged, uplifted, and
if they have not accepted Christ as their Savior that they would
see the need to do so.
This
ministry began with a simple letter of a few sentences, and
so I close this letter with a heart full of thankfulness for
all the blessings God has bestowed upon us. I pray that this
ministry will be a blessing to you and your family.
Blessings
in Jesus!
